Bert Flier – Triathlon Coach & Former Professional Athlete
Bert Flier has been active in endurance sports for more than thirty years. As a former (semi)professional triathlete and experienced coach, he understands the demands of the sport from both sides: performance and preparation.
Bert became Dutch champion at the full-distance triathlon of Almere in 2001 and 2002 and achieved a personal best of 8:28 on the Ironman distance.
Today he coaches triathletes of all levels, from beginner age-group athletes to ambitious competitors aiming to perform at their best. Even now he continues to compete himself. In 2024, in his fifties, he ran a 2:38 marathon, finishing on the podium at the Dutch national championships in his age group.
His approach combines practical experience from decades in endurance sports with a clear understanding of what athletes need to train, recover and perform consistently.

Coaching Philosophy
Endurance sport rewards consistency. According to Bert, the difference is rarely made by a single perfect training session, but by the accumulation of many well-executed days.
Training, fueling and recovery all play a role in that process. When athletes manage these fundamentals well, they give their body the opportunity to adapt, become stronger and perform when it matters most.
